Rai’s film Tanu Weds Manu turned out to be a massive hit. Made with a budget of Rs. 17.
5 crore, the movie minted Rs. 56 crore at the Indian box office. Later, in 2015, Rai decided to make a sequel, which, however, did not impress the audience much.
Fans have been eagerly waiting for the third instalment to hit the big screens. In a recent update, Anand L. Rai has confirmed that Tanu Weds Manu 3 is indeed in the cards.
However, the director has not yet confirmed that whether R. Madhavan and Kangana will return for the third time or not. Giving the good news to his fans, Anand answered various questions related to the movie during an interview with News18.
The director revealed that he ‘definitely’ has plans to continue the franchise. “Tanu Weds Manu is a kind of franchise that demands a part three. The reason is, that those characters are so beautiful, and they were played so beautifully by Madhavan and Kangana.
Those characters became a little bigger than the story itself,” he said. He also revealed that he initially had no plans to make a third part of the film. “With Tanu Weds Manu Returns, we introduced a new character, Datto.
These characters are all asking for a third part. The minute we have a great story—the story that Tanu, Manu, and Datto deserve—we’ll go for it,” he added. A.
