Tamzin Outhwaite has said she found filming sex scenes for new TV show The Wives "liberating" despite it having been a "long time" since she'd had to film raunchy scenes. The actress stars in The Wives alongside Jo Joyner and Angela Griffin, with the first episode landing on TV screens on Monday, 16 September. Tamzin, 53, plays Sylvie, a newly-divorced woman who is enjoying being free and single, and dating younger men.

The ex-EastEnders star, who played Mel Owen in the BBC soap, had discussed how she found working an intimacy coordinator to film certain parts of the series, and why she found playing Sylvie "really lovely". Speaking to The Sun 's TV Mag, Tamzin said: "Well, it's been a long time since I've had to do anything like that. People don't ask women in their 40s and 50s to do that very often.

And to be honest, it was quite liberating, because obviously the whole point is that she's meant to be free." The actress said as she's "not prudish" she found portraying Sylvie "really lovely". She went on to say she'd never "experienced" working with an intimacy coordinator before, admitting she found it "quite strange".

"You know, someone saying: ‘Is it okay Tamzin if he touches you there?’ and I'd be like: 'Yeah, just get on with it, let's take our clothes off and do it’ because you want it to be authentic," Tamzin added. "You don't want it to look robotic and choreographed." The Wives tells the story of Sylvie, Natasha (Angela Griffin) and Beth (Jo Joyner), whose lives are all falling apart in different ways.

The trio are all married to members of the Morgan family, but Sylvie has recently divorced her husband Tom. Set in Malta, the trio uncover some huge family secrets in the wake of family member Annabelle's (Christine Bottomley) death. The new series also stars the likes of Jamie Bamber, Katie Clarkson-Hill, Ben Willbond, Jonathan Forces, Louis Boyer and Ajay Chhabra.

A synopsis for The Wives reads: "Sylvie Morgan was happily married, Natasha Morgan was swimming in wealth, and Beth Morgan and Annabelle Morgan were thick as thieves. "But this year, as they come together again, everything is different. Sylvie's now single and loving life, Natasha's hiding a desperate financial situation, Beth is barely keeping her life together and Annabelle is, well.

.. dead.

" The Wives begins airing on Monday, 16 September at 9pm on Channel 5..
