Tamara Smart (“Artemis Fowl,” “The Worst Witch”) is joining the second season of Disney+ fantasy series “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” based on author Rick Riordan’s Greek mythology-laden novels. Smart will take on the key role of Thalia Grace, the demigod daughter of Zeus in a role that will recur in the second season. She is a friend of Annabeth and Luke who sacrifices herself so they can reach Camp Half-Blood safely.

Zeus intervenes to stop Thalia from dying, turning her into a tree that anchors the protective veil around the camp. She makes her first appearance (in human form) here. It marks the second time Smart has played the late Lance Reddick’s daughter on screen, the first being Netflix’s “Resident Evil” series.

Returning cast members include Walker Scobell as Percy Jackson, Aryan Simhadri as Grover Underwood, Leah Sava Jeffries as Annabeth Chase, Dior Goodjohn as Clarisse La Rue, Charlie Bushnell as Luke Castellan, Virginia Kull as Sally Jackson, Glynn Turman as Chiron, and Toby Stephens as Poseidon. Smart joins other newcomers to the series including Daniel Diemer as Percy’s cyclops half-brother Tyson, along with Sandra Bernhard, Kristen Schaal and Margaret Cho guest starring as the Gray Sisters. The next season will be based on Riordan’s second Camp Half-Blood Chronicles book titled “The Sea of Monsters”.

The project began production in August in Vancouver and is slated for a 2025 premiere. Source:.
