Friday, November 22, 2024 In a groundbreaking move towards environmental sustainability, Taj Mahal, New Delhi, has unveiled an advanced Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) designed for wastewater recycling. This initiative positions the hotel as a pioneer in India, adopting chemical-free water treatment technology specifically for its laundry operations. The pilot project, titled Recycling Water Back to Laundry, underscores the hotel’s dedication to eco-friendly practices as part of IHCL’s Paathya framework, which prioritizes environmental preservation, social responsibility, and sustainable development.

The cutting-edge Effluent Treatment Plant has the capacity to recycle up to 60 kiloliters of laundry wastewater per day, significantly reducing reliance on freshwater resources and enhancing overall efficiency. Certified by IIT-Delhi and compliant with IS:10500-2012 standards, the plant operates without the use of chemicals, ensuring that treated water is safe for reuse in laundry processes. This initiative enables Taj Mahal, New Delhi, to save an amount of freshwater equivalent to the daily water consumption of 5,000 people, making a meaningful contribution to local water conservation efforts.



The project was officially inaugurated by Dr. Anmol Ahluwalia, Area Director – Operations & General Manager of Taj Mahal, New Delhi, along with Mr. Darashbir Singh, Vice President – IHCL Engineering.
