Wednesday, January 22, 2025 Taiwan , the “Heart of Asia,” has returned to the International Tourism Fair of Madrid (FITUR 2025) to showcase its unparalleled offerings to global travellers. Located in booth 6B10, Hall 6, Taiwan’s vibrant presence includes interactive activities, calligraphy demonstrations, and tastings of its rich local cuisine. FITUR’s attendees, including tourism professionals and the general public, are treated to a journey through Taiwan’s landscapes, heritage, and technological marvels.

Taiwan’s rich history is a tapestry woven with European influences. Portuguese sailors in the 16th century were mesmerized by its beauty, calling it “Formosa” or “Beautiful Island.” By the 17th century, Spanish settlers left enduring marks, such as the forts of San Salvador and Santo Domingo and Cape Santiago’s Spanish heritage.



Recent archaeological excavations have revealed the depth of Spanish evangelizing efforts, further strengthening the cultural connection between Taiwan and Spain.
