WARNING: This article contains spoilers from Sweet Magnolias. Sweet Magnolias season five may not have been officially confirmed just yet but there has been a major clue to indicate the Netflix drama making a comeback. Based on Sherryl Woods’ Sweet Magnolias novel series, the fictional town of Serenity is usually bustling with gossip and suburban drama and season four was no different.
From the offscreen death of Bill Townsend (played by Chris Klein) to Maddie Townsend’s (JoAnna Garcia Swisher) New York job announcement, the fourth outing kept fans on their toes. More than a month has since passed though and there has been no word on whether or not there will be a fifth season on the way. But while Netflix has kept quiet on the show’s future, there has been a big clue that season five has already quietly been given the go ahead.
Sweet Magnolias’ future has seemingly been confirmed on the Writers Guild of America’s directory which helps employers find writers for their projects. And in doing so, the directory lists upcoming shows and films with Sweet Magnolias season five listed for a 2025-2026 production and start date. Former executive producer Sheryl J Anderson has also been named as the fifth series showrunner, so it does seem that things are in motion behind the scenes for Sweet Magnolias, despite the streamer’s ongoing silence.
Of course, this isn’t the only indication that there will be more to come from the show, following that cliffhanger regarding Maddi.
