Pune: A structural audit at the Swargate MSRTC bus stand has highlighted that the building is in a weak condition, with officials revealing that several beams that support the structure's pillars may be in a poor condition. The audit report, conducted earlier in Sept by the city-based agency Structial Buildtech, placed the building in the ‘doubtful' category, said divisional controller of Pune MSRTC, Pramod Nehul. He explained, "After the audit, structures are ranked under categories of ‘good', ‘very good', ‘doubtful' and ‘worst'.

The bus station building has been put in the ‘doubtful' category, which means that it is weak. There are problems with many beams and iron rods that support the pillars." The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) official said they plan to send the audit report to their headquarters in Mumbai in the coming week, along with requesting immediate financial help of Rs60 lakh to fix the issue.

"Earlier this month, Rs20 lakh was sanctioned for the depot. However, this money will be used to resurface the roads and surface area inside the depot and improve the condition of the toilets. We will start work on these two aspects right after the monsoon.

The fresh sum of Rs60 lakh that has been requested will be for strengthening the building and adding proper basic facilities for passengers," Nehul added. On a daily basis, the bus stand-cum-depot records the movement of around 60,000 passengers and at least 600 bus movements. Nehul to.
