Bollywood actress Swara Bhasker married activist and Samajwadi Party MP Fahad Ahmed back in 2023. The couple recently spoke about the challenges they face due to their class and cultural differences. Bhasker said that while she fought for secularism in the country, she still had doubts about dating Ahmed.
Bhasker and Ahmed appeared on Amrita Rao and RJ Anmol’s Couple of Things, where they narrated their love story. They said they met during a protest in Mumbai. Initially, they were friends, but soon love blossomed between the two.
A post shared by India Love Project (@indialoveproject) Ahmed then said, “But the fun part is that both of us were in denial. I thought us being anything more than friends was impossible. We came from two very different backgrounds.
But everyone around us knew that there were sparks. There was a phase when we would speak on call for 10 hours at a stretch.” Bhasker reiterated that she thought their union was ‘impossible.
’ She continued, “I was feeling that it was too much. I’m not the person who cares about what other people would think, but it was shocking that at that time, things like, ‘Log kya kahenge,’ would cross my mind. I was traumatized thinking how my family and friends would react.

And I could not understand why, because I was never that person who gave importance to such things. On one hand, I was raising slogans about secularism, but on the other hand, such things were running through my mind.
” A post shared by Swara Bhasker (@reallyswara) Bhasker said she let all the thoughts and feelings sink in and finally realized she wanted to be with Fahad Ahmed and not care about the world after a chat with her uncle. The couple later got married under the Special Marriages Act and announced the wedding to the world in February 2023. They later hosted wedding festivities and threw a grand bash for their friends, family, and colleagues.
