Health authorities in Kerala's Malappuram report a suspected cases of Mpox virus in a man who had just returned from Dubai. Health authorities await confirmation regarding the viral disease. Mpox news in India: A young man who had reportedly returned from Dubai last week has been admitted to the hospital in Malappuram district of Kerala with symptoms of Mpox virus.

He is currently under observation in a Government Medical College Hospital, Manjeri. His serum samples have been sent to the virology laboratory at Government Medical College, Kozhikode and the health officials are awaiting his report and confirmation regarding the virus. As per reports, the man was experiencing fever and rashes on his hands and reached the hospital in Malappuram on Monday, September 16 th .



After a thorough examination conducted by the dermatologists, officials grew suspicious about the symptoms and isolated him immediately. Health authorities have raised concerns about this suspected mpox case in the state as they are also currently fighting the Nipah virus scare in Malappuram district. In recent news, Bengaluru has registered the death of a 24-year-old man due to Nipah virus on September 9.

Mpox Regulations Issued At International Airports International airports in the country have begun to screen passengers arriving from African nations after an Mpox outbreak was reported in Congo, and a 26-year-old man from Haryana was found to be infected. Right after the declaration by the World Health Organisation (WHO) of mpox as a Public Healthy Emergency of Global Concern, all international airports were asked to start COVID-like regulation to track cases. In an attempt to contain the spread especially from foreign traveler returning from mpox-affected countries like Africa, all airports have been ordered to conduct mandatory thermal screening.

This was also a necessary step as a 26-year-old man from Harayana was also found to be infected with mpox virus. What Is Mpox Virus And How Does It Transmit? Mpox is transmitted by the monkeypox virus (MPXV). It is an infectious viral disease with causes painful rashes, fever, headache, enlarged lymph nodes, muscle ache, low energy and back pain.

It typically spreads through close contact with an infected person or patient. The signs and symptoms of mpox typically starts within a week of contact but it can also take 1 to 21 days to show up. Symptoms typically last two to four weeks but may last longer in someone with a weakened immune system.
