ONE Championship striking superstar Superlek Kiatmookao has thanked Joe Rogan for his high praise after his sensational knockout of Jonathan Haggerty in Denver – and even invited him to train together. The UFC commentator and podcast extraordinaire was left in awe of “The Kicking Machine” after a 49-second finish in the main event of ONE 168 on September 6 in Denver, Colorado. Superlek claimed Haggerty’s ONE bantamweight Muay Thai title in the process, extending his winning streak to 12 fights in the Asia-based martial arts promotion.

American Rogan could only applaud the 28-year-old Thai in a recent episode of his hugely popular podcast, “The Joe Rogan Experience”. “Did you see Superlek in ONE FC?” Rogan said. “Dude, Superlek is this badass May Thai fighter.

And he fought Jonathan Haggerty, who was the champion. “Caught him with that over the top elbow, real quick in the fight, I think it was in 40 seconds, beautiful KO. “Haggerty has a certain hop and then he goes in.

Superlek had timed it, and he tried it earlier in the round and didn’t catch it. This one, perfect timing. Gets his head off the centre line, throws it at the temple – oh my god, perfect elbow.

” The Bangkok Post understands Superlek had been repeatedly practising the exact strike that finished Haggerty in the warm-up area backstage at Ball Arena right before the fight. He later thanked Rogan for his “kind words” in a series of posts on social media this week, admitting he hopes to one day express his gratitude in person. “This perfect elbow is the result of training together with my coach, Fasai,” Superlek wrote.

“We trained and perfected it to fight one of the best on the planet. “I want to showcase Muay Thai to the whole world. One day, I hope to meet Joe Rogan and maybe we can train and discuss the beauty of Muay Thai further.
