NEW YORK — Sometimes, even in the middle of what’s looking like a one-sided World Series, you have to take a step back and think about what you’re watching. Let’s do that now, because here’s what I think we’ve been watching: A World Series with possibly eight future Hall of Famers. That number includes Clayton Kershaw , a left-handed legend who isn’t active.

But who the heck cares? If eight is the right number, that’s something special — and historic.
