LEOMINSTER — All that nature has to offer is in full bloom at Barrett Park, where dragonflies and butterflies, frogs and fish, and many more wild critters call home amongst all the beautiful flora and woods. The popular scenic spot at 40 Barrett Pkwy. contains numerous hiking trails, including one that leads to a waterfall, a recently updated playground with ADA-accessible features, fishing areas, picnic tables and a beach volleyball court.

The Recreation Department holds programs and events all year. The current story walk encircling Colburn Pond is “Who Are You?” a book by Lunenburg resident Debbie Consalvo from her “Adventures of Milo the Dog” series, which is inspired by her own pup. The story walk changes every few months or so and is put on by Project Apples/Leominster CFCE in partnership with the Recreation Department.

Also happening at the recreation area is a pop-up library courtesy of the Leominster Public Library, with the next ones on Aug. 15 and 29 from 10 to 11:30 a.m.

People can stop by and check out books for all ages, return books, set up library cards, and learn about upcoming library events..
