Its clients include industrial and commercial companies, financial institutions, private funds, governments, educational, charitable and cultural institutions and individuals, estates and trusts. The firm made headlines when a former client, Sam Bankman Fried, accused it of working with prosecutors to gather evidence against him.
Bankman Fried was convicted of fraud, conspiracy and money laundering in March 2024 and sentenced to 25 years in prison. In mergers and acquisitions the London office focuses on complex, high-profile UK and cross-border transactions. During the past year its lawyers advised the biopharmaceutical company Amgen on its £22 billion acquisition of Horizon Therapeutics, Emirates Telecommunications Group on its acquisition of a 15 per cent stake in Vodafone Group, and Kering Beauté, a division of the Kering group of luxury brands, on its acquisition of the fragrance company Creed.
