The University of Glasgow's involvement in cancer research is set to feature in a charity's new podcast. Beatson Cancer Charity has launched its podcast series, Beatson Talks, hosted by STV's Laura Boyd. It aims to inform and support cancer patients and their families.
Among the episodes lined up features a discussion between Laura and Professor Anthony Chalmers, chair of clinical oncology at the University of Glasgow and the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre. (Image: Beatson Cancer Charity) They explore the advanced research at the Beatson, the significance of clinical trials in cancer treatment, and possibilities for the future of cancer treatment. Laura said: "It has been an absolute pleasure hosting the Beatson Talks podcast.

"Having lived with cancer for 15 years myself, I know how much learning about others stories of how they’ve coped and the tools they’ve used can help and being able to share both this and the fantastic range of services the Beatson Cancer Charity offers, in what can be the most incredibly difficult time in someone’s life, has been really special." He is joined by the charity's bereavement service psychologist Jemma Byrne. (Image: Beatson Cancer Charity) The series also includes insights from former chief executive officer Martin Cawley, reflections from Gillian Shirreffs, a breast cancer patient living with multiple sclerosis, and a discussion on the psychological challenges of living with cancer.
