Members of the gospel music fraternity came out in their numbers at the recent launch of Minister Blessed’s new EP titled I Did It Anyway. The launch, which took place at the Swallowfield Chapel in St Andrew, saw the likes of Sean Lypher, Jodiann Pantry, Ryan Mark, Prince Saj, Johnmark Wiggan, Garfield Reid, Lucas Musiq, Charmian-Marie, Sirnan Biblical from Cayman, Perry in Christ, Jim Radical, and Kawna Stone in attendance. “The vibe that truly resonated from persons that attended the event was this sense of nostalgia and fellowship as they got to see some artistes and even friends they hadn’t seen in several years.

This also flowed through with the artistes backstage with what can only be described as a reunion. The atmosphere at the event was very diverse with the different styles that each act brought from worship to reggae, to dancehall, to hip hop, inclusion of dancers and musicians, which all added to the dynamic and rich entertainment value of the event,” Minister Blessed shared in an interview with the Jamaica Observer post-event. The launch was hosted by Anya-Jean Phillips and Dexter Johnson Jr.

DJ Marc and DJ Sticko kept the vibes going in-between sets to keep patrons entertained. “The highlight at the launch, for me, was really seeing God’s purpose fulfilled as I sang the title track I Did It Anyway . I could see nods of approval and relatability coming from members of the audience.

Seeing fellow artistes who haven’t been on a show in a long time taking up back the mantle and ministering like they hadn’t lost a beat was also a true blessing to witness live and direct. I also liked the fact that the event provided a platform beyond those who were booked for the event with other artistes willing to share the spotlight giving features to some of their colleagues,” said Minister Blessed. This is the first time in five years that Minister Blessed had performed in Jamaica.

“Having not had an official appearance in Jamaica since 2019 it was important that the songs I performed included some of the known favourites such as Keep Pressing On, Wash All Away, Glory, and Rep Christ . From the new EP the audience was treated to hearing some of the songs being performed live,” he added. I Did It Anyway has six songs including Unstoppable, Heavyweight featuring Shado Vijon, Treat Mi So, I Worship You, and Again and Again featuring Ryan Mark.

Said Minister Blessed: “There are a few key differences between this project and previous ones. Most of my projects have between 12-15 tracks. This is an EP with 6 tracks, which allows listeners to learn the songs more quickly and choose their favourites more easily.

The content on the tracks reflects much more diversity in topics and lyrical flows as well as maturity in my spiritual walk being able to deliver solid, practical advice to listeners. I have also done a reggae and worship track for the first time in over 10 years.”.
