Maisie Smith made it clear she was happy to spend all her time with Max George in a new interview, but The Wanted singer had a mixed reaction. The pair have been inseparable since 2022, after competing against one another during the 18th series of Strictly Come Dancing , which has come under fire ahead of its 20th anniversary due to allegations of misconduct targeting some of the show's dancers. Ranvir Singh welcomed the couple on the set of ITV 's Lorraine on Monday, as Maisie Smith, 23, and Max, 35, promoted their newest project as they star as a husband and wife in an arena production of Jeff Wayne's The War of The Worlds.

Maisie, who shot to fame by portraying Tiffany Butcher in the BBC One soap EastEnders , was keen as the presenter addressed the fact they were both working and living together, making the chances of spending some alone time slim. But Max had another take. "You're working together, you're living together.

How's it going?" Ranvir asked. "I think - oh! I don't know about you", Maisie responded as she turned to a stone-faced Max and laughed. "You think it's alright", he rather brutally chipped in after a pause.

To which Maisie said: "I love it, it's very, very rare that you get to work with your other half and I think we're just very fortunate. We spend all day, every day together so, I can't wait to go on tour." This was also the chance for Maisie and Max to address the backlash they received over their 12-year age gap.

"We've been asked about it but I've always said from the start, it's been 2 years now, my family and your family...

They're so close", Maisie first responded while addressing her partner. "We're so happy and Max has been there for me, for my family when we've been going through things." And when she was questioned over her reaction to criticism over the years, after growing up in the spotlight on Albert Square, she continued: "I don't remember not having this life, being in the public eye, it's normal.

I've probably grown a thicker skin because of it." Moments before the exchange, Maisie firmly shut down Ranvir as Max said: "We're playing the parts of Nathaniel and his wife Beth. I basically lose my head because I think we're being invaded by aliens.

" "He thinks it's the devil, and, me being the rational wife am trying to convince him it's the Martians", Maisie added, leaving Ranvir to ask: "Is she the rational one in real-life Max? Be honest." The singer was gearing up to respond honestly before Maisie swiftly interjected: "Can we skip that question? Moving on." Max then laughed: "Nah, she's mental.
