Amy Dowden was visibly moved to tears on Lorraine as she discussed the upcoming one-year anniversary of her being cancer-free this Saturday. The 34-year-old professional dancer recently had to withdraw from Strictly Come Dancing due to a severe foot injury. She appeared on the ITV show to share her experiences.
Despite the setback, which required doctors' orders to rest, Amy's resilience shone through. Lorraine Kelly expressed deep empathy for Amy's struggles over the past few years, including her battle with cancer and Crohn's disease. When asked about her feelings, Amy admitted: "I'm heartbroken, I am going to do my best not to cry.
" Reflecting on her premature exit from Strictly, Amy said: "I'm gutted it's ended this way, I feel I've let JB down. After those words 'you've got cancer', this was my thing." Eliciting comforting words from Lorraine, who reassured her: "It would have been so lovely if you'd have done that on the show, and I can see how upset you are, and of course you are.
" She added: "But you've not let anybody down. We were just really worried about you, that was the thing because we know you've had cancer, you've been so astonishingly brave and you deal with Crohn's disease, you never moan about it and just get on with it." Although her departure from dancing with JLS star JB Gill was distressing, fans were relieved to learn that her injury was unrelated to any past health issues, reports Wales Online .
