Emmerdale star Claire King once called Strictly Come Dancing professional Brendan Cole 'really nasty' in an old interview from 2006. The 62-year-old soap actress took part in the fourth series of the BBC dance competition with pro dancer Brendan, 46. She finished sixth in the competition.

She was eliminated after performing the Samba to Tina Charles' I Love to Love. Carol Smillie and Matthew Cutler landed in the bottom two. During her time on the show, she discussed training with Brendan and said he was "intolerant" and "impatient".

She said he shattered her confidence with his indifference towards her and ignored her crippling arthritis that made taking part in the competition difficult for her. Claire, who is known for her role as Kim Tate in Emmerdale , said to The People: "Me and Brendan got off to a bad start from day one when he said he wanted to be partnered with Emma Bunton or Carol Smillie. I've always felt like second-best and it's meant that I've never had any confidence.

" The actress added: "We'd been dancing together for weeks and he never even realised I was in agony every day of training because of my arthritis. It was only when someone else pointed it out to him that he found out. He just isn't interested in me at all.

He's very distant. "He's stunned we've even made it this far. He had no faith in me and certainly never did anything to boost my confidence.

He's had a very negative attitude." She added that Brendan 'ground down her confidence' and said he didn't give her a lot of support. She claimed: "He has said some really nasty things about me in the Press like saying I stink of smoke.

Yes, I do smoke but I'm always spraying perfume and eating mints. Nobody else has ever complained." According to the actress, he has a 'short temper' and 'thinks he's a celebrity'.

In recent weeks, there have been a string of allegations made against Graziano Di Prima over his interactions with Zara McDermott during rehearsals for the programme. He admitted to kicking her during a rehearsal but denied spitting at her. Giovanni Pernice is also under investigation following Amanda Abbington's complaints about his 'militant' training techniques.

She blasted him as 'abusive, cruel and mean'. She claims she was left suffering from PTSD after pulling out of the show, stating 'I should never ever have danced with him'. He vehemently denied the claims.

Judge Anton Du Beke also came under fire over the weekend, as well as former pros James Jordan and Janette Manrara. Follow Mirror Celebs on TikTok , Snapchat , Instagram , Twitter , Facebook , YouTube and Threads ..
