Tweet Facebook Mail Streets in the southern Queensland city of Hervey Bay remain under lockdown early today as police continue negotiations with a man armed with a knife. Events began when officers were called to a property on Boat Harbour Drive in the suburb of Urangan about 12pm yesterday in response to reports of a disturbance. A man was found armed with a knife and making threats.

(Queensland Police) Officers issued an emergency declaration last night and set up an exclusion zone encompassing Boat Harbour Drive, Lavell Street, Hammond Street and Toni Street. Negotiations are continuing today, and the exclusion zone has been extended to include Cartwright Court.



Members of the public, particularly motorists travelling to work, are advised to avoid the area. Anyone with information for the police should call 131 444. This is a developing story.
