Shraddha Kapoor-Rajkummar Rao starrer Stree 2 has already garnered over Rs 23 crore at the box office and is expected to cross Rs 50 crores through the weekend. The Independence Day 2024 release has earned rave reviews from critics and normies on social media, with a few ranting that the first in the franchise, Stree (2018), was better. The sequel to the 2018 superhit is the fifth in the Maddock Supernatural Universe that shares a horror-comedy franchise including Stree, Bhediya, and Munjya, with another lore ‘Vampires of Vijaynagar’ in the pipeline.
Stree 2: Sarkate Ka Aatank has Rajkumarr Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishekh Banerjee, Aparshakti Khurana, and others in recurring roles, with spicy cameos and a dance number by Tamannaah Bhatia. Set in the sleepy town of Chanderi, the Stree sequel is penned by screenwriter and lyricist Niren Bhatt. “ A perfect sequel ,” remarked one fan, while another quipped that Stree 2 is a “perfect cinematic horror movie .” “ What a mind-blowing experience ,” wrote one, announcing “ a big surprise ” (which is not a surprise anymore). The internet couldn’t stop raving praises on lead Shraddha, dubbing her the “ biggest female star ” amongst the current lot.
“ Tamannaah is the new recipe for success for movies ,” noted a few users. “ Bahot maza aa rha hai bheedu ,” tweeted another ecstatic cinemagoer, while another remarked, “Interval mazedar ekdm .” Meanwhile, a netizen noticed an Easter egg for 'sarkata' in a scene from Stree.
Not all reviews were flattering. Some found the movie not worth the ‘HYPE’. Others found the first half sluggish, riddled with old jokes.
