'When I first conceptualised the idea of the house, I wanted it to be a viewing platform because it has that whole panorama where you just have a sweeping view right across from the ocean all the way through to the west into the mountains,' he said. 'I wanted to make the main level of the house a big viewing platform with no obstructions.' Mr Clout aimed to keep the design 'simple yet tasteful' and let the view speak for itself.
