After struggling mightily to score touchdowns over the first two weeks of the 2024 preseason, the Pittsburgh Steelers found pay dirt early on in the preseason Week 3 game against the Detroit Lions . After starting the drive at their own 40-yard line, the Steelers moved the ball down the field quickly thanks to a 32-yard pass from quarterback Russell Wilson to wide receiver George Pickens. Then, a few plays later, running back Cordarrelle Patterson exploded through the line thanks to some great blocking, made one beautiful cut and took it to the house from 31 yards out to give the Steelers the early 7-0 lead.

com/QCVCHCQP8p The Steelers failed to score a single touchdown in preseason Week 2 and hadn't found the end zone since the fourth quarter of preseason Week 1. It goes without saying how important it was to score six on that opening drive. Patterson missed a ton of time during training camp due to injury but doesn't look like he's lost a step at all.

The 33-year-old figures to be the No. 3 back on depth chart in 2024 behind Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren..
