RNLI crews have urged people to take care at a popular air show after they saved a child's life. Eastbourne RNLI, which attends Airbourne in Eastbourne each year in case people need help, said they were called into action last year after a child was in difficulty in the water during the air show. The volunteers rescued the child and ultimately saved their life.

READ MORE: Red Arrows wow spectators Despite not being part of the official safety cover for the air show, the RNLI Eastbourne crew are reminding people to take care this year when at the beach. People are advised to stick to lifeguard beaches only, keep an eye on weather conditions and tide times, and to avoid using inflatables that are not designed for the sea. A spokesman for Eastbourne RNLI said: "If you were at Eastbourne Airbourne yesterday, you may have seen both our lifeboats and our volunteer crew members out at sea conducting training exercises.



Read next: 42 children reported missing from Sussex beach "We aren’t part of the official safety cover for the air show (due to the fact we could get called away from the area for different taskings) but have both boats out on exercise during the day to reduce response times should there be an emergency that arises. "Last year, the crew on our inshore lifeboat were called into action to assist beach lifeguards with a child in difficulty in the water during the show. They were credited with a life saved.

"If you are planning to visit the air show this year, please stick to lifeguard beaches, keep an eye on the weather conditions, tide times, and don’t use inflatables that aren’t designed for the sea." The air show began on Thursday and had a number of interesting displays take to the skies, including a performance by the Red Arrows to kick off the celebrations. The free event was attended by thousands of people from near and afar who gathered along the seafront and in nearby beauty spots to watch the aerial displays.
