STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Featured in this week’s Staten Island’s Best Dressed photo gallery are photos from the baby sprinkle of Kaitlyn Pavia, thrown by her mom, Debra Cantoni, and her husband, Sal Pavia.

A baby sprinkle is a casual and smaller-scale version of a baby shower, typically held for moms who are expecting their second, third, or subsequent child. The term “sprinkle” is a play on words, as it suggests a lighter celebration compared to the more elaborate and traditional baby showers. “My mother and husband threw me the most wonderful sprinkle,” said Kaitlyn, who marveled at the thoughtful details of her shower, including a unique touch that created a memorable experience for all the guests.

Sal, the owner and founder of Flora + Dean A Boutique Floral Studio, not only created a stunning tablescape, but he also delighted the ladies with a unique detail as an homage to Kaitlyn’s love for coffee: A personal barista for the occasion! “I am definitely one of those iced latte obsessed type of girls, so when planning this event in our home I told my family that having great coffee there was important,” explained Kaitlyn, especially since she is limiting herself to one cup a day throughout her pregnancy. Enlisting the expertise of Dominic from Ferra Coffee, guests delighted in a variety of delicious espresso drinks, but they also indulged in homemade gelato for freshly-made, delicious Affogatos. The coffee station quickly became the highlight of the party, delighting guests and adding a touch of elegance to the festivities.

Their 3-year-old son, Dean, who will soon be a big brother to a baby sister, humorously expressed his initial reaction to the news with a simple request for a bagel, rather than a new brother or sister. “We’ve come a long way,” his mother remarked with a smile, reflecting on the excitement and joy of preparing for their growing family. As the couple prepares to welcome their new addition, Kaitlyn’s sprinkle, attended by the dearest of family and friends, is already a treasured memory.
