STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Featured in this week’s Staten Island’s Best Dressed are photos of Staten Island residents, both the young and the young at heart, who got into the Halloween spirit on a beautiful Thursday afternoon with creative costumes for the day’s spirited festivities.

For 2024, a variety of creative, family-friendly costumes were spotted in neighborhoods on all shores, from Captain America to characters from the musical “Wicked” to salt and pepper shakers, bringing cheer to everyone they came across while trick-or-treating. Submitted photos from Staten Island Advance readers featured high schoolers, younger children and even some fun-loving adults who dressed up to bring Halloween fun to the much-anticipated non-official holiday centered around candy and other sweet treats. Adults, including teachers and school staff, joined the festivities by wearing costumes that brought extra cheer to their students.

Their not-so-scary costumes kept things lighthearted and added a sense of magic to the school day, especially for students who look forward to seeing their teachers “get dressed up for Halloween.” Scroll below for a glimpse into day. Send your photos for consideration for future installations of “Staten Island’s Best Dressed” to gsantos@siadvance.
