Come new year and you’ll have to start shelling out for entry fees to Andhra Pradesh’s iconic beaches such as Ramayapatnam Beach and Rushikonda Beach. This measure has been announced in order to ensure safety and infrastructural upgrades at these popular tourist destinations. According to reports, a nominal entry fee of Rs 15-20 per person will be charged at popular beaches across Andhra Pradesh, including Suryalanka, Ramayapatnam, Rushikonda, Kakinada, and Mypadu beaches.

This fee will come into effect from January 1, 2025. The Andhra Pradesh Tourism Department aims to enhance the overall beach experience for visitors while ensuring the long-term sustainability of these natural resources. The collected funds will be invested in upgrading facilities such as restrooms, changing rooms, and parking areas; regular maintenance and waste management initiatives; implementing safety protocols and lifeguard services and promoting eco-friendly practices and minimising environmental impact.



The government also plans on collaborating with private players to build more recreational spots and resorts around these beaches, in order to entice more travellers. As per reports, Rushikonda (in Visakhapatnam) and Suryalanka (Bapatla) receive over 3000 visitors on weekends, a number that goes up to 10,000 during public holidays.
