Financial representatives of the consortium, Darryl and Marcel Van de Velde, received an enthusiastic response from the NSWRL and will attempt to convince the Brisbane Division board of delegates of the strength of their proposal. NSWRL general manager John Quayle said the financial strength of the submission was surprising, but the consent of the Brisbane Division and the QRL was needed if the NSWRL was to admit a team. The consortium has agreed to underwrite losses in the first three years.
