Any hope of Hull City extending their winning run to four games for the first time in three years came to a shuddering halt at Norwich City on Saturday afternoon after being thumped 4-0. Two nil down inside 20 minutes at Carrow Road, City were swept aside by an inform Canaries outfit, who added two more in the second half, and could even afford to see Josh Sargent slam his penalty kick into the base of the post. Time and time again, Tim Walter's Tigers were cut to pieces and though they fashioned chances of their own, and s aw Joao Pedro's goal chalked off at 3-0 , they were unable to breach a resolute Canaries rearguard.

This always felt like the biggest test of City's resurgence over the course of the past few weeks and so it proved, and for the first time this season, we saw an opposition in form and prepared to really go at Walter's side. We didn't see such a front-footed, aggressive display from Leeds United nor Sheffield United, and Norwich really exploited the gaps. City were not without their openings, but in truth, Norwich were a level above.

Their football was composed, swift and clinical, and they were carving out chances at will, taking advantage of the large gaps through the Tigers' midfield and exploiting their deficiencies.
