Disney+ has made the decision to cancel Star Wars spinoff series The Acolyte after just one season. The series was created by self-proclaimed Star Wars superfan Leslye Headland, but even those credentials couldn’t save the show from cancellation. The Acolyte was met with mixed reviews from the very first episode, though some fans liked the grey areas that Headland explored through her characters.

However, other Star Wars fans thought it went against the typical good and evil narrative and, even more, they weren’t happy with the deepening of the force mythology. Along with true fans of the franchise being torn over if they enjoyed it or not, the show was also review bombed. This practice is typically used when projects showcase people of color and/or LGBTQ+ characters as a way to make them fail.

It’s a hateful practice to say the least. Season one of The Acolyte starred Amandla Stenberg , Manny Jacinto , Dafne Keen , Carrie-Ann Moss , and more. While fans won’t get the satisfaction of a season two answering all of the leftover cliffhangers, there are plenty more Star Wars projects currently on, and coming to, Disney+.

On December 3, Disney will premiere Skeleton Crew , a new Star Wars project starring Jude Law . For more canceled Disney+ shows, check out the list ..
