Spoiler warning: This article contains spoilers for Deadpool & Wolverine . Deadpool & Wolverine is chock full of superhero cameos , but one actor wants to reprise their character for a solo outing. In perhaps the wildest casting in a string of wild cast reveals, Channing Tatum turns up in Deadpool & Wolverine as Gambit, a role he previously got cast in but never actually got to play until now.

Despite getting to fulfil a long-held dream, the actor thinks his character deserves more screen time with a standalone movie. "I sure hope so," Tatum told Variety of a potential Gambit movie. "From your mouth to God's ears.

Write it into existence, my friend. Please." Tatum has made no secret that he wants to star in a solo movie for Marvel Studios, but he is still waiting for his little prayer to get an answer.

"Of course I've said it. I've been saying I want it for the last 10 years. It's in Bob Iger and Kevin Feige's hands.

I pray to God." Tatum has been gunning to play Gambit since X-Men: The Last Stand in 2006. He was originally cast to play the Ragin' Cajun before the character got cut from the script.

And for over a decade he's been trying to make a Gambit spinoff film, but it got killed when Disney bought Fox, leaving him "traumatized." He finally got to make his long-anticipated arrival as the deadly card dealer in Deadpool & Wolverine — a movie that achieved the largest R-rated global box office opening ever with a staggering $438.3 million and the eighth-biggest domestic weekend box office debut of all time, with ticket sales reaching $205 million.

Tatum shared a social media post to show his appreciation for his MCU debut shortly after the film hit theaters. The actor posted two near-identical photos of him and Reynolds standing side-by-side at San Diego Comic-Con, taken nearly 10years apart, and thanked his co-star for making the cameo a reality. Director Shawn Levy said he knew that Tatum's Gambit cameo would be "deeply gratifying" for the actor , as he is well aware of how long he has wanted to play the character, being one of the "25 different directors who met with Channing about directing the Fox Gambit movie" when those discussions were happening.

For now, fans can see what Tatum brings to the table in Deadpool & Wolverine — and don't forget to stick around for the credits . Adele Ankers-Range is a freelance entertainment writer for IGN. You can follow her on X/Twitter here .
