"It's good old-fashioned fun for the kids," he said.
"It's getting them off screens, into outdoor activity in a social environment, introducing them to a sport they may never ever try otherwise, which comes with a whole list of benefits." The school holiday programs cater for children from Kindergarten to Year 6. "I've always been very passionate about health and wellness, particularly when it comes to families," Mr Sturgess said.
"So being able to serve the local community and have an impact on a larger scale, rather than working one-on-one with people, really appealed to me. I find working with kids is extremely rewarding because they're still easily influenced, and kids need positive influence more than ever. "At every school holiday camp, we reinforce our values and culture to the kids - camaraderie, teamwork, and giving everything a go, no matter what.
The best part about that is kids don't realise they're learning essential life lessons; they're too busy having the time of their life." He says children don't need to be sporty to sign up, as camps are designed for all abilities and focus on energy and effort rather than a child's sportin.
