Vadodara: A police inspector serving with the State Reserve Police (SRP) Group 7, based in Nadiad, died due to a heart attack in Pavagadh , where he had gone on a routine visit to oversee law and order. An SRP platoon has been posted in Pavagadh to maintain peace due to the heavy rush ahead of the Navaratri festival. PI GR Patel (42) had gone to Pavagadh on Wednesday for the visit.
On Wednesday night, some SRP jawans went to give him food at the pilgrim guesthouse. They left after discussing Thursday's schedule with him. On Thursday morning, a fellow guest noticed Patel's door slightly ajar and saw him lying unconscious on the floor.
