Today is the birth anniversary of the biggest female Bollywood superstar Sridevi. While her daughters Janhvi and Khushi Kapoor and husband Boney Kapoor remembered her sharing heartfelt pictures from the past, many fans remembered the shocking way in which the legendary actress died. Sridevi died in Dubai on February 24, 2018, by drowning in her bathtub in the hotel where she was staying with her husband Boney Kapoor.
It was a very shocking death that left her daughters and millions of her fans numbed. While the Dubai police did not find any discrepancies in her death, many people still believe that she did not die a natural death but was rather murdered or left to die. Of course, all of these are mere speculations and allegations with no grounds to prove anything but claims continue to circulate even years after her death.
Controversies around Sridevi’s death The first theory around her death was that the way she died was too suspicious and could not be just an accident. Even the post-mortem reports of Sridevi were questioned for their accuracy as first it was claimed that she died of cardiac arrest whereas later on it was informed that she died due to accidental drowning. Another theory said that Sridevi had insurance of 240 crore in her name that could be cashed only if she died in UAE.
And it was only someone close like Boney Kapoor who would get the benefit of all that money. Now that seemed too much of a coincidence for many Sridevi fans. A few doctors in UAE also contemplated whether Sridevi drowned on her own while bathing in the bathtub or if someone pushed her into the bathtub.
Interestingly, her husband and Bollywood producer Boney Kapoor was the first person who saw her dead and he was the only person staying with her in the hotel. Many fans raised questions as to why Boney called his friend when he found Sridevi in an unconscious state in the bathtub instead of the emergency room service or a doctor. Many people believed that Sridevi was fighting depression because she had undergone many surgeries and diet fads to look young and beautiful.
That is why she committed suicide in Dubai. She had extended her stay in Dubai because she wanted to shop with her sister but did not leave the hotel for 48 hours which was surprising. Another theory is that Sridevi was intoxicated as a post-mortem report showed traces of alcohol in her body.
Her close friends said at that time that Sri never drank heavily but had a glass of wine occasionally. So did someone force her or persuade her to drink more that night?.
