Squid Game Creator Explains Why Season 3 Will End Hit Netflix Show By Season 2 is one of the most anticipated shows of the year. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Squid Game creator Hwang Dong-hyuk revealed that, while writing for Squid Game Season 2, it came “naturally” to him that the show could go on for a third season that would mark the end.

For him, the story he was telling simply reached its endpoint. “When I was thinking about the idea for the ending of season three, I think it sort of naturally came to me that this was the finale,” Hwang said. “I believed that with that story, I was able to tell everything that I wanted to tell through the story of Squid Game and also in the perspective of Gi-hun as a character, and I thought that we don’t need any further stories from here.

Squid Game Season 2 will premiere on December 26, 2024, exclusively on Netflix.
