Thursday, November 7, 2024 The Pacific Tourism Organisation (SPTO), in partnership with Trove Tourism Development Advisors, is set to launch an innovative Digital Measurement and Benchmarking Platform (DMBP) on November 13, 2024, aimed at advancing sustainable tourism across the Pacific Islands . This initiative is supported by the New Zealand Government under Phase 2 of the Pacific Digital Tourism Transformation Project, designed to enable data-driven decision-making through real-time data collection, analysis, and reporting. The DMBP offers an extensive suite of Sustainable and Digital Marketing Indicators, providing tourism stakeholders with insights into tourist behavior, resource utilization, and destination performance.
This data-centric platform is anticipated to be a game-changer for the Pacific tourism industry, empowering destinations to enhance competitiveness and sustainability by implementing informed, data-driven strategies. Earlier this month, SPTO conducted an online training session for key team members led by SPTO’s Lead Digital Specialist, Danny Cohanpour, alongside Shubham Kathuria from Trove Tourism Development Advisors. The training focused on Power BI, Microsoft’s business analytics tool, covering the platform’s user interface and backend data management capabilities.
SPTO team members, including Prashil Parkas, Kiniviliame Raicebe, Shayneel Narayan, Tarusila Ratuvakalevulevu, Catherine Mara, and John Rosa, gained hands-on experience with Power BI.
