Prayagraj: The MP-MLA court of Prayagraj on Monday granted five years simple imprisonment to former Samajwadi Party MLA Saeed Ahmad in a criminal case related to kidnapping and wrongful confinement registered against him at Civil Lines police station in 1993 . According to district government counsel (criminal) Gulab Chandra Agrahri, the case was registered against the then SP MLA by one Sarfaraz Hussain under IPC sections 365(kidnapping), 368 (keeping in confinement) and 506 (criminal intimidation). It was alleged that Saeed Ahmad, along with his aides, had kidnapped the complainant to sign some papers related to a disputed property through force.

During the trial, the court recorded the evidence of prosecution witnesses and defence witnesses. On Monday, the convicted Saeed Ahmad and one of his associates and pronounced a sentence of five years jail for them.
