Portofino, the iconic gem of the Italian Riviera, Italy is set to shine anew next June with the unveiling of the latest stage in the extensive renovation of Splendido, A Belmond Hotel, Portofino. Overseen by the esteemed Martin Brudnizki Design Studio, this transformation marks a new era for Portofino’s original Grand Dame.
A symbol of Portofino’s charm since the 1950s, the hotel’s restored main building will embody Ligurian artistry and elegance, featuring a reimagined cocktail bar and the addition of a Dior Spa. This phase of Splendido’s evolution aligns with the debut of Villa Beatrice in July 2025 – an exclusive addition to Belmond’s portfolio, marking their first private villa offering in Portofino. The intricate restoration of Splendido, a former 16th-century Benedictine monastery, preserves its historic essence while introducing a modern touch.
Under Martin Brudnizki’s guidance, each summer reopening has introduced fresh enhancements: in 2024, new rooms and an updated lobby were introduced, and in 2023, guests experienced a rejuvenated pool area overlooking the breathtaking Ligurian Bay, a new Splendido Grill restaurant, and the remodeled Baronessa Suite, a signature suite inspired by regional noble palazzos. For the 2025 season, Splendido will continue its legendar.
