Spirit AeroSystems and the Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace (SPEEA) have agreed to a new, four-year contract for the Tier 1 suppliers’ engineers at its Wichita, Kansas, United States site. 20 vote difference In a statement on November 25, the SPEEA confirmed that more than 1,000 engineers at Spirit AeroSystems, represented by the union, which is the local affiliate of the International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers (IFPTE), have a new, four-year contract. Following the validation of the votes for the new contract, 478 dues-paying members of the Wichita Engineering Unit (WEU) of the SPEEA cast valid ballots.

The new agreement was approved by 20 votes, with 249 members voting to accept the new deal and 229 voted against. The contract will come into effect on December 2 and will be valid until December 1, 2028, according to the SPEEA. “The agreement will increase the amount of money available for wage increases for Spirit engineers by at least 23%, including the promotional fund, over four years – with a provision for greater raises if needed to match labor-market conditions.



” In addition, the new contract will include a guaranteed minimum bonus of 5% in the spring of 2025 and increase the amount Spirit AeroSystems will contribute to the employees’ 401(k) funds for the “overwhelming majority” of engineers in 2026.
