The Oscar-winning filmmaker, 67, took to Instagram on Sunday after President Joe Biden announced he was dropping out of the race to hail Harris, saying 'once again a sista comes to the rescue'.
Singer-songwriter Perry, 39, also hailed her support for Harris by posting a short clip of herself signing the lyrics to her new song Woman's World just hours after news broke that Biden had endorsed Harris to replace him. ' Both Lee and Perry publicly supported Biden during his bid for the White House four years ago. The film legend urged voters to 'be on the right side of history' when casting their ballots in the 2020 election and Perry hailed Biden's decision to choose Harris as his running mate, branding her 'exactly the kind of leader with experience we desperately need right now'. The pair's endorsement for Harris as the Democratic nominee comes after numerous A-listers including Cardi B , Jamie Lee Curtis , John Legend , Charli XCX, Cher , Barbra Streisand , Questlove and Demi Lovato issued messages of support to Biden and Harris after the President announced that he would not pursue the nomination at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago next month.
