A BMW speeding the wrong way crashed into two women on a scooter in Indore on Saturday, resulting in their deaths, reported The Times of India. Police reported that the driver was recklessly speeding to avoid being late for a friend's birthday party. The victims, Diksha Jadaun, 25, and Lakshmi Tomar, 24, were employees of private firms.

The driver, Gajendra Pratap Singh , 28, has been arrested and faces charges including culpable homicide not amounting to murder, causing death by negligence, rash driving, and endangering human life. According to police, Singh fled the scene after the crash, leaving the women critically injured on the road. Singh was reportedly rushing to a friend's birthday party and drove at high speed on the wrong side of the road.

According to police, Singh's BMW, registered in Chandigarh, had struck several other individuals before hitting Diksha and Lakshmi. The accident occurred in the Khajrana area as the two women were returning home from a fair. Eyewitnesses said the car lost control after hitting the women and crashed into a pole before stopping.
