In 2025, the right-wing regional government of Cantabria will provide tax incentives for foreign investors who establish their fiscal residence in this beautiful green corner of Spain. The government headed by María José Sáenz de Buruaga has also introduced different tax incentives for new residents from other regions of Spain who move there (more on this further down in this article), as part of the territory’s budget for the new year. Foreigners who establish their residence and invest in properties, companies and funds domiciled in Cantabria will be able to deduct up to 20 percent of their investment, including expenses and related taxes.

In this sense, it is very similar to Madrid’s new Mbappé Law , as its aim is to attract foreign investment and fill public coffers. This tax legislation applies to regional personal income tax, which accounts for approximately half of entire tax payments in Spain, since the other part corresponds to the State's collection.



It’s also important to stress that the tax cuts for Cantabrian property investments do not apply to homes that these foreigners intend to live in or use as short-term holiday lets, something understandable given the current housi.
