Meanwhile, with the issues faced by the Boeing Starliner and the astronauts stranded at the International Space Station, NASA is still looking into operations that include SpaceX's Dragon in bringing the astronauts home . NASA reportedly has concerns about the Starliner's safety so SpaceX's Dragon may be called upon to bring them back down.

SpaceX shows off twin Dragons The two capsules were pictured with a large SpaceX crew posing at a processing facility on Florida's Space Coast. Both of these capsules will launch from Florida's Space Coast within a month of each other. The two SpaceX capsules are the Crew Dragon capsules that will fly on the Polaris Dawn (due to launch on August 27) and the Crew-9 (due to launch on September 24) astronaut missions.



Shortly after making the post with the twin Dragons, SpaceX posted, " Shortly thereafter, Dragon arrived at our hangar at pad 39A ahead of Falcon 9’s launch of Polaris Dawn. SpaceX's Polaris Dawn & Crew-9 Polaris Dawn is a manned spaceflight mission operated by SpaceX on behalf of Shift4 CEO Jared Isaacman. It is to be the first of three missions of the Polaris program, which will use the Crew Dragon capsule on the Falcon 9 for the first two missions and then the Starship (still under development) for the final trip.

Polaris Dawn is expected to take the four astronauts some 870 miles from Earth and will be the farthest anyone has been since NASA's Apollo program. "Crew-9 is the ninth crew rotation mission of SpaceX’s human space transportation system and its tenth flight with astronauts, including the Demo-2 test flight, to the space station through NASA’s Commercial Crew Program." - NASA SpaceX Crew-9 is to be the ninth NASA flight and the 15th crewed orbital flight of a Crew Dragon spacecraft.

It will take three NASA astronauts and one Russian Roscomos cosmonaut to the International Space Station (ISS). It had been set to launch on August 18, but has been delayed due to issues regarding the Boeing Starliner. It is also to be the first Crew Dragon mission to launch from Cape Canaveral Space Launch Complex 40 and will be the first to splash down in the Pacific Ocean.
