Prayagraj: The Samajwadi Party (SP) candidate, Mujtaba Siddiqui on Wednesday filed his nomination papers for Phulpur assembly byelection in two sets at the district collectorate campus. After filing his nomination, Siddiqui told reporters that no development works and projects were launched in the Phulpur area for a long time. He claimed, "Residents of the Phulpur area are facing waterlogging, broken roads, lack of educational institutions, crumbling health services, deteriorating law and order and numerous other issues.

" He also asserted, "Issues like unemployment, inflation, paper leaks under the BJP rule, have troubled the common man. People of the state now want to get rid of BJP." Being a resident of Phulpur himself, Siddiqui said, "People recal SP's rule for overall development.



" The SP candidate said that he is the joint candidate of the INDIA bloc and will achieve a historic victory with the support of all sections of society. Sixty-nine-year-old Mujtaba Siddiqui obtained an LLB degree from Allahabad University and is a businessman. Meanwhile, supporters and leaders of the Samajwadi Party exchanged heated arguments with police officials after cops stopped a group of SP functionary and workers from making a futile attempt to enter the nomination room.
