The nine-hole track in the South Okanagan town has been immaculate since the day it opened in March, and summer is buzzing with activity thanks to the course’s hot summer specials. Since it can get a bit warm during the day, Sonora Dunes is offering green fees at great rates during the day.

Green fees are just $20 between 1 and 3 p.m., and carts are only $20 per person.

It’s just $45 for green fees and a cart between 3 and 5:30 p.m. thanks to the course's twilight deal.

Recent upgrades spearheaded by project manager Terry Field have significantly enhanced the course’s amenities. The first thing you’ll notice is the new paving from the parking lot to the pro shop, making access smoother for everyone. The installation of two practice nets allows golfers to warm up before hitting the course.

In addition, the renovated restaurant now boasts a covered patio with artificial turf, providing a refreshing venue to relax and enjoy a post-game hot dog or smokie and beverage. “People love this course, and we get nothing but compliments,” manager Bernie Richardson says. For those who relish a good challenge, Sonora Dunes will not disappoint .

Despite its modest nine holes, the course offers a variety of difficulties, including a daunting par 5 and a tricky water hazard. It’s a regulation, par-35, nine-hole course that surprises many with its narrow fairways and strategic layout. And don’t forget to keep your eye out for the occasional snake.

“It’s tough, it’s challenging, and a lot of people are under the impression that because it’s nine holes it’s a nice little executive or par-three, but it’s not,” Richardson says. “It’s a regulation nine-hole course.” And it is in absolutely fantastic shape.

“That’s totally due to the two people who've been looking after it for years, Stan and Trevor Ward,” Richardson says. “They’re a father and son team. They are just remarkable.

They have this place cart-ready right when we open, usually on March 1. It’s in beautiful shape, and they really look after it.” You can book your Sonora Dunes tee time here .
