Terremoto win 3-0 The State Cup Gold champion (G2), 2013 Terremoto Black, elevated to the top of NPL league play this year and is off to a good start to the season after several successful pre-season tournament outings in Manteca, Turlock, and Fresno.

In the first league game of the season, the Black traveled away to Pleasanton to face a tough Ballistic United Premier team -- also a previous champion the past season. With the pre-season utilized to help formulate the team tactics and strategies, the team was ready, and it showed in the shutout 3-0 win. From the start, Terremoto Black was focused, and six minutes in, Julian Marron scored a great goal on a flick pass from Amaziah Giron.

Terremoto Black controlled a lot of the play later after that, with the strong defensive line of Jaxon Horton, Gavin Su, Mason Avila, and Grayson Ryan keeping the Ballistic team at bay. Unable to score, however, after a while, the Ballistic team mounted some scary attacks, but stellar goalkeeper Ian Flores made several great acrobatic saves to keep the score 1-0. Finally, with 15 minutes left to go, Marron once again crashed the Ballistic goal after a long cross from Ryan that bounced off the goalie’s hands before being directed into the net by Marron for a 2-0 Terremoto Black lead.

Ballistic pressed hard after that, but they could not penetrate the Black defense. With three minutes remaining, Giron put the icing on the cake as he took a pass from Marron before turning a beautiful solo effort into a third goal to seal the 3-0 Terremoto win. Terremoto Black was strong in midfield with Colton Vieira, Luke Achziger, Landon Da Ga, Brayden Aycock, and Jose Moran running the show.

West Coast Terremoto Black look forward to their next game on Sept. 7 at Legacy Fields against Livermore Fusion. Contact Arion Armeniakos at aarmeniakos@tracypress.
