Courtesy of Adaurie Dayak West Coast Soccer Club started their fall league play with huge success as the NorCal Premier League hosted the NPL/ECNLR opening day alongside the English Premier League’s opening day last weekend. The sport of soccer was buzzing around the world and especially here, in Davis of Northern California. In game one, the West Coast Wolf Pack NPL ’09 team defeated El Dorado Hills in a 2-0 shutout.
Ashley Browning scored less than a minute into the second half to open the scoring and her strike was followed up within two minutes by a goal from Saniyah Lee. In the second game, West Coast Kraze ‘08 NPL squad won 3-1 against Palo Alto. Danielle Rey nodded a beautiful header goal off a corner kick from Karly Martins to get things started.
Claire Gornik scored next with a powerful shot, blasting through the keepers’ hands, to double Kraze’s advantage. Another goal from Rey secured the victory with a great long shot. In game three, West Coast Kryptonite ‘07 NPL edged out Rocklin FC with a narrow 1-0 win.
The game-winning goal came from a perfectly placed ball from Karly Martins to Aliya Lopez, with the latter quickly controlling the ball before volleying it over the goalie to propel Kryptonite to a huge victory. Game four saw West Coast ECNL-RL ‘07 win 1-0 against Folsom Lake Surf ECNLR. A nice combination from Baylee Gregerson, Malia Locarnini, and Addison Sanchez saw the latter blow by three defenders before ripping a shot into the back of the net to seal the game.
