As we celebrate the joy of the holiday season, we wanted the cover of Lowcountry Parent to reflect one of the special traditions that many families share – hanging ornaments and decorating the Christmas tree. Our photo shoot took place at Charleston Christmas Collectibles, a specialty shop located downtown inside the Charleston City Market, at 188 Market Street. Frenchie Richards has owned the store for more than 50 years, and it is filled with a huge variety of unique ornaments that capture the beauty of the Holy City.
General Manager Carrie Smith and Operation Manager Brittany Wilson were so helpful and welcoming to our adorable cover model Gemma Maines. Gemma, 4, lives in Hanahan, South Carolina, with her mom, dad and older brother, Ethan. She loves ice cream, and pink is her favorite color.
She takes dance classes and does taekwondo, and she wants to be a doctor when she grows up. Thank you to Post and Courier photographer Henry Taylor for making the photo shoot feel seamless and fun and for capturing so beautifully the wonder of the holiday season through a child’s eyes. The next time you're downtown, be sure to stop by Charleston Christmas Collectibles or visit www.
