With its generous proportions, buttery leather exterior and “softly structured” handles (as its product description reads), The Row’s most talked-about handbag, the Margaux is what an It-bag looks like in 2024. It has sold out multiple times at the brand’s dedicated site and at retailers worldwide, and is currently being resold for highly inflated prices on various platforms. Some would say it’s the “perfect” handbag (especially those who aren’t phased by the price tag, which starts at £3,240).

Following closely in its footsteps, however, is The Row’s range of mini bags, which are much slighter in size than its totes; offering different traits to the capacious Margaux. There’s an array of osteopath-friendly companions listed in the “small bags” section on Therow.com – including a scaled-down version of the Margaux (measuring 10 x 7 x 7.

5”), the N/S Park Tote and the Devon, all of which are classic styles in The Row’s accessories arsenal. The Edith and the 90S – tubular bags with top handles – are the heroes on the shoulder bag front, and have been staunchly endorsed by the label’s celebrity fanbase. Elsewhere, the “ergonomic” Half Moon bag, first introduced in 2014 and a well-loved favourite among loyal The Row customers, remains a permanent fixture, and now comes in black, ivory, seaweed green, warm chestnut, and raisin.

Erica Wright, who runs a fashion sourcing app, Sourcewhere , previously told Vogue : “The Half Moon bag already feels like it’s a part of your wardrobe. The lack of logos, patterns and bright colourways make it a risk-free investment. Shoppers today place less importance on what’s ‘new’, and more on how timeless and rare pieces are.

” As Amy Verner noted in her Vogue Runway review of the autumn/winter 2024 collection, founders Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have turned focus to fitted silhouettes across their ready-to-wear, and have kept things more compact in the handbag department, too. Where tailoring was cut close to the body and trousers had a fitted, slim fit, the models held clutches and the aforementioned Edith and mini Devon (with the exception of one roomy Margaux cameo for look 8). Small bags for fall, say the Olsens.
