At one time, the three blocks of flats in the School Hill area of Bolton were seen as a way of providing affordable, modern housing. School Hill flats, Bolton, 1992 (Picture: Newsquest) Built in the Sixties, Haydock House, Lowton House and Gray House accommodated more than 160 families. But by 1992, when this photo was taken, residents had moved out and the flats had been boarded up to deter squatters.

A major demolition programme was about to begin in the area which would see all three blocks being pulled down. This picture shows part of Haydock House. It was all part of an investment programme into the School Hill area which had become run down and a new housing development was planned for the site of the three blocks of flats.

Did you live in one of the blocks? What are your memories of living in School Hill? Leave a comments and photos from that time..
