A family feud is bubbling up all over a common baby name - and nobody seems to be backing down. Many of us have thought about what we'd call our child years before actually starting a family. It's the reason why we made pacts with our friends at school never to steal our ideas (the biggest 'bagsy' of them all).

At the age of 32, one woman didn't expect to bickering over which moniker she is allowed to use. She has recently welcomed son - Liam Alexander - into the world , with her partner, aged 34. But things haven't exactly gotten off to a smooth start.

.. Taking to Reddit, the anonymous mum says she was left baffled after her sister-in-law Katie, who is married to Mike, made a bizarre demand the first time she met Liam Alexander.

"My partner and I didn't settle on a name for our son until the day of his birth," the post reads. I have always loved the name Liam, for its sound and meaning, and was over the moon when my partner finally agreed to one of the names on my list. 24 hours after Liam was born our families came to meet him, his sister being one of the first.

" However, instead of congratulating the couple, Katie allegedly said that she has 'always loved' the name Liam but that Mike wouldn't let her use it as he has a child with another woman with the same name. She reportedly said: "Could you change it? Maybe call him Alexander as his first name? It sounds nicer." A week later and Katie brought the demand up again, despite never have making a 'name pact' with her sister-in-law and already having two kids with Mike, named James and William.

"I firmly said I loved the name too, and while I empathise with her, we would not be changing his name, or the order of his names," the mum added. "I also said she could still use the name in future, it's common in my culture and tends to serve as a bond between the kids." Want to avoid the doom and gloom? "Essentially, she's jealous because she wasn't allowed to use that name," one person scathed. "That's between her and her husband. You have nothing to do with that.

" Another agreed, commenting: "You had every right to name your child Liam and to keep that name. Katie's request is disrespectful and out of line. Her bringing it up once was bad enough but for her to keep harping on it? Yikes.

She needs to leave it alone," while a third raged: "I am in disbelief that she held her nephew and had the gall to tell you what to do." Do you think the sister-in-law is being unreasonable? Have your say in the comments section below..
